Fine Photography & Woodturning Artist
Chuck Aaron is an accomplished photographer, woodturner, and writer from Columbia, Maryland who creates and sells matted and framed photographs, photo note cards, hand-crafted pens, bowls and other wood objects. Some wood items are hand-painted, faux-painted, or incorporate photographs.
Chuck’s art allows him to create physical objects that express the beauty he perceives in the world around him. His photographs capture visual moments—a bird in flight, fall colors, a child’s joyful exuberance, a rusted street lamp. His woodturning engenders objects that emphasize the beauty of color and wood grain in a way that is both visual and tactile. His writing externalizes his inner perceptions through creative expression.
Matted, framed photographs and photo note cards are often printed on canvas, watercolor, linen, and other textured and interesting papers. Photographs are sometimes modified with creative effects to emulate paintings, drawings, or saturated, high dynamic range images. Photographs that are incorporated into wood plates and bowls are often vignette and toned to look aged.

Many of wood items include hand-painted decorations. He decorates some bowls with flowers, fruit or foliage and also makes hand-painted pens. Although he does some of the painting many of his bowls and pens are painted by others as collaborative works.
He lives and works in Columbia, Maryland and has shown and sold work at the Artists’ Gallery and many local shows. He has a BA in Liberal Arts from University of Maryland and has taken courses in woodturning, painting, Amish grain painting, and others. He learned photography in school and also apprenticed with a portrait studio. His professional background includes sales, management consulting, information technology and photography and he currently owns a computer consulting company.
