Never a day goes by that she takes this beautiful area for granted. Every sunrise, sunset, moonrise, rainy day, snowy day, foggy day, makes her glad she is able to create art in this beautiful area.
Her colors are inspired from the simple things she sees daily; the soybean and corn fields across the way, the sunset behind the barn, the zinnia patch, the view of Sugarloaf Mountain, the butterflies on her butterfly bush. It’s a never-ending parade of inspiration.
Her main love is for fiber, the natural, organic feel of fresh wool in her hands. She is known for her deep, saturated colors, hand dying all the materials for her artsy scarves and shawls. Starting out with a silk chiffon base, she layers a multitude of fibers on top, including wool from her sheep. Her pieces are highly textured, colorful and a joy to wear.
Dalis participates in many art shows and her work resides in numerous private collections. She owns and operates Dancing Leaf Farm where she has her art studio/shop filled with spinning, felting and knitting supplies, hand created jewelry and felt artisan shawls. Dalis features her own line of hand painted yarns, vibrantly dyed in a rainbow of colors. And three times a year, she hosts an “Open Studio” tour at her farm.
