Kay Sandler practiced law for 20 years before discovering the art world in a beginner’s watercolor class. Since then, she attended the Maryland Institute, College of Art, and has taken local art classes and national workshops regularly. Kay paints in watercolors, pastels and acrylics. Her work has been juried in over 50 international and national exhibitions since 2005.
Kay has won over 25 awards, including Best of Show in the annual Mid-Atlantic Exhibition sponsored by the Baltimore Watercolor Society. Her watercolors and pastels have been published in national art magazines.
Kay is a signature member of numerous art societies including the Baltimore Watercolor Society, the Texas Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, the Philadelphia Water Color Society and the Maryland Pastel Society. Kay has studios in Columbia, Maryland and in Plantation, Florida.
Most of Kay’s work is representational with a strong emphasis on color and design. Using vibrant, saturated color and a close-up view, Kay portrays lush botanicals with high drama.
Kay lives in Columbia, MD with her husband, 2 dogs and 3 cats. Kay’s law office is located on Main Street, in historic Ellicott City, Maryland.
