Laurie L. Hansen
A love for drawing and painting led Laurie to study at Atelier LeSueur in Excelsior, MN. This intensive 4-year program taught techniques of the Old Masters and working from life. Laurie graduated in 1991, completing all programs in Portrait, Figure, Landscape and Still Life.
Laurie established her studio at the West End of Old Ellicott City after relocating to Maryland in 2012 with her husband Fred and their dog Nina. They have 2 adult children, both artists. Their son is a songwriter and musician and their daughter works in the field of writing/editing and photography.
Laurie paints primarily in Oils. Her style is a combination of painting en plein air and realism. She likes to start a painting outdoors and finish it in her studio. Her “Engraved Boards” provide art for transitional wall spaces and columns.
Coming in 2019; a love for learning leads Laurie to also offer works in sculpture.
