Loreen Western
Loreen Western, founder, and owner of See Dreams Studio, creates vibrant, original hand-painted silk scarves and watercolor paintings. Using rich, saturated colors, Loreen produces stunning wearable art and paintings with luminous qualities. Inspired by the elements of nature, the designs and color themes of her work reflect aspects of the sky, clouds, water, flowers, leaves, trees, and landscapes.
Known throughout her art career as a colorist, Loreen has a real passion for working with the interplay of hues, whether on silk or in watercolor paintings. Loreen studied drawing and painting with George Morrison, American landscape painter, and sculptor at the University of Minnesota, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Studio Arts. Later she received further training in watercolor painting from Brenda Kidera and Diana Marta. Currently, Loreen is taking guided instruction painting with John Kachik at The Delaplaine Art Center. Her professional work experience includes corporate graphic design, technical illustration, drafting, art shows. Additional work in administration and management has also influenced Loreen’s approach.
Loreen has explored color and silk painting for more than thirty years, producing and selling her beautiful hand-painted silk scarves at art shows, galleries, and online with Etsy. Her unique silk scarves are currently available at HorseSpirit Arts Gallery in Savage, MD, and at The Delaplaine Arts Center Gift Gallery, Frederick, Maryland.
Annual art shows featuring Loreen’s work have included Historic Ellicott City Show House, Artfully Wilde, Columbia, Maryland, Local Color or Arts and Crafts Expo at The Delaplaine Arts Center, Frederick, Maryland, and Gallery at The First Unitarian Universalist Church, Richmond, Virginia.
Loreen lives in New Market, Maryland, with Ralph, Sianna, Luke, and Fenn, a sheltie dog. See Dreams Studio, her art studio, is in her home.
