westernLoreen Western

bluesilk_smalLoreen Western, creator and owner of See Dreams Studio, creates vibrant, original hand painted silk scarves. Using rich, saturated colors, Loreen produces stunning wearable art with luminous qualities. Inspired by the elements of nature, the designs and color themes of her silk painting reflect aspects of the sky, clouds, water, flowers, leaves, trees and landscapes.

pinksilk_smallKnown throughout her art career as a colorist, Loreen has a real passion for working with the interplay of hues whether on silk, in watercolor paintings, in drawings, or with fibers. Loreen studied drawing and painting earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Studio Arts from the University of Minnesota. Her professional work experience in corporate graphic design, technical illustration, drafting, art shows, administration and management influences Loreen’s approach as well.

brownscarf_smallFor more than twenty years, Loreen has explored color and silk painting producing and selling her beautiful hand painted silk scarves at art shows, galleries and stores. Currently her unique silk scarves are also available at The Delaplaine Arts Center Gift Gallery, Frederick, Maryland.  Annual art shows featuring Loreen’s work include Artfully Wilde, Columbia, Maryland; Gallery at The First Unitarian Universalist Church, Richmond, Virginia and Local Color at The Delaplaine Arts Center, Frederick, Maryland.

blueleaves_smallLoreen lives in New Market, Maryland with her husband, twins, sheltie dog and cat. Her art studio, See Dreams Studio, is located in her home.

Deborah Maklowski allowed me to video her colored pencil demo; she began drawing at 12:30 & stopped at 4:30. Besides checking out a students progress (18 seconds) and a lunch break she worked steadily. Imagine if the world paid artists by the hour… Please watch the videos carefully, Deborah lost her kneaded eraser, & we can’t find it, if you see it roll off the table let us know. ☺️ #innerworkingsouterjourneys #horsespiritartist See MoreSee Less

Allison Pasarew wraps, weaves & "sews" her sculptures using impossibly thin wire repurposed from today’s broken & replaced technology. Here Allison stands with her, very impressed, Dad.
Inner Workings, Outer Journeys with Allison Pasarew & Deborah Maklowski runs though Sun, Oct 4th.
